A RIVER SANCTUARY - Thailand’s First Artisanal Resort in Chiang Mai

Raya Heritage는 태국 한적한 치앙마이 외곽의 럭셔리 리조트다. 우거진 자연림과 Ping 강둑에 인접한 이곳은 자연 속에서 느끼는 진짜 휴식을 표방하며 오픈한 지 2년 만에 치앙마이에서 가장 아름다운 리조트로 주목받고 있다. 3층 규모의 Raya Heritage 리조트 건물은 13세기 무렵부터 18세기까지 태국 북부와 그 일대를 지배했던 ‘란나 왕국’의 문화, 예술과 장인 정신에서 영감을 얻어 지었으며, 총 38개의 객실이 모두 스위트 타입으로 구성되어 있다.

Raya Heritage의 건축을 맡은 태국 건축가 Boonlert Hemvijitraphan는 테라코타 타일과 박공천장, 단단한 고재목의 기둥과 빔 등으로 태국 북부지방의 전통적인 건축양식을 재해석했으며, 여기에 높이 솟은 천고와 화이트, 크림톤의 컬러 팔레트로 컨템퍼러리한 디자인 스타일을 녹여냈다. 모든 스위트 객실에는 널찍한 베란다를 구성해 Pin 강가에 반사된 햇살에 눈을 뜨며 하루를 시작하고, 노을 지는 Pin 강가를 바라보며 하루를 마무리할 수 있도록 했다.

Raya Heritage was inspired by the artistry and craftsmanship of the Lanna Kingdom, which flourished from the 13th to 18th centuries across northern Thailand as well as northern Laos, Myanmar’s Shan State and Yunnan, China, Raya Heritage blends the simple charm and character of the region’s past with discreet, personalised service in a relaxed, riverside setting.

Thirty-eight spacious suites set in lush gardens overlook the tranquil Ping River in low-impact, three-storey buildings designed by Thai architect Boonlert Hemvijitraphan. Terracotta tiles, hipped roof gables, vintage hard wood columns and beams, and mulberry-paper screens evoke traditional northern Thai design while high ceilings and a colour palette of whites and creams give the interiors a light contemporary twist. The suites’ generous outdoor verandas facing the river hark back to a time when villagers gathered on their front porches in the evening, chatting together and sharing the day’s stories.

KHU KHAO RESTAURANT

Raya Heritage에는 레스토랑인 Khu Khao, 자연 속에서 느긋하게 티타임을 즐기기 좋은 Laan Cha Tea Terrace, 그리고 칵테일 바 Baan Ta Lounge & Lawn이 갖춰져 있다. Khu Khao는 Raya Heritage의 시그니처 레스토랑이다. 쌀 요리를 중심으로 하는 태국 북부지방의 전통 음식들, 향토적인 로컬 푸드를 맛볼 수 있다. Khu Khao는 과거 쌀농사를 짓는 농부들이 사용했던 바구니를 의미한다. 그 이름처럼 레스토랑 곳곳에는 직조한 전등 갓, 가구 등을 인테리어 소품으로 사용했다.

Rustic elegance and cuisine inspired by the rice-based culture of the north define the dining experience at Khu Khao, the resort’s signature restaurant. Khu Khao refers to the threshing baskets used by northern Thai rice farmers in the past, a number of which are cleverly incorporated into the décor of the restaurant’s interior.

SWIMMING POOL

Raya Heritage의 수영장은 Pin 강을 내려다보며 선베드에 누워 여유 있는 시간을 보내거나 강가로 불어오는 바람을 맞으며 상쾌한 한때를 보내기 좋다.

You can also enjoy a vantage point parallel to the Ping River in the Swimming Pool of Raya Heritage. It is a perfect place you can relax in the river breeze on one of the loungers with the views of the river below.

HUEN BON SUITE

3층으로 향하는 독립된 계단을 오르면 Huen bon Suites를 만나게 된다. Huen Bon Suites는 꼭대기 층에 위치해 박공형의 높은 천장과, 이에 어울리는 전통 태국 주택 건축양식으로 꾸며졌다. 23평 규모의 객실 곳곳의 가구, 공예품들을 통해 ‘란나 왕국’의 문화를 지켜온 예술가, 공예가들의 장인 정신을 느낄 수 있다.

Accessed by a private staircase to the third floor, the Huen Bon Suites boast high-pitched ceilings that recall the style of thai house architecture of the past. Bathrooms feature artisanal touches such as hand-carved teakwood mirrors and lically-crafted ceramic tiles. A large bath, separate shower and double vanity offer added comfort and convenience. handwoven textiles, baskets, pottery and woodcarvings underscore a style of luxury based on simple, natural beauty and northern Thailand's unique heritage.

RIN TERRACE SUITE

Rin Terrace Suite 타입은 화이트와 크림 컬러의 베이스 위에 블랙 컬러의 악센트가 인상적인 객실이다. 자연적인 물성과 질감의 소재를 최대한 활용했으며, 이를 통해 리조트 특유의 자연친화적이면서 여유로운 분위기를 조성했다. Huen Bon Suite 타입과 마찬가지로 별도의 테라스가 갖춰져 있으며, 역시 전통 수공예 장인들의 오브제가 곳곳에 배치되어 있다.

The Rin Terrace Suites offer spacious 2nd floor accommodation in subtle shades of white and cream with black accents. The generous use of natural materials and textures enhances the sense of luxury. Each suite features a cozy covered outdoor terrace with tranquil views over the resort's lush green spaces to the River Ping. KRAAM POOL SUITE

Kraam Pool Suite는 전체 객실 타입 중 가장 넓은(30평 이상) 스위트룸이다. 리조트에서 Ping 강과 가장 가까이에 위치한 이 객실은 쾌적한 실내 공간과 풀장을 포함해 널찍한 실외 공간이 모두 갖춰져 있다. 화이트와 크림을 베이스로 했지만 Rin Terrace Suite와는 달리 강렬한 인디고 컬러를 포인트로 사용해 시원한 느낌을 준다.

Situated in the resort's lush garden landscape just a few steps from the Ping River, these suites offer indoor-outdoor living space with a large terrace for lounging and a 3x7-meter private pool. A clean palette of whites and creams is offset by touches of hand-woven indigo fabrics to striking effect.
